Yes, I gave into the hype that is known as the Beauty Blender sponge. I was dying to know if it was really the best sponge out there.
Two for $25 ?!
I usually buy a pack of 32 Non-latex spade sponges from Quo for around $4-$7 so I consider these two pink egg shaped sponges to be a high risk investment if they don't work out. I opted to not purchase the Beauty Blender specific cleanser. I read numerous reviews and looked up the ingredients and determined it would be easy enough to clean them with my regular cleaner.
The sponge does feel really firm at first but once you run it under warm water for a few seconds it softens up and almost doubles in size!
The bright pink hue doesn't last long as it does stain easily but I've cleaned it properly so I know
It's just colour left behind from product, not bacteria.
This product is meant to be used to dab foundation or concealer on the skin, don't rub or you won't get the desired results.
The shape is convenient for getting into smaller area or using the round end to get faster coverage.
It does seem to suck up a lot of product, which a sponge is expected to use more product than a foundation brush, but the result is very similar to an airbrush.
Overall I have ended up using the Beauty Blender just for my personal makeup, while I think it's a great product it's not practical to have one or two in my kit when I could be working on multiple clients per day. That's where my disposable sponges come in handy. I have had my current beauty blender for 3 months and plan to use it for 6 months before retiring it and opening up the 2nd one. So for $50 a year I get a higher end foundation sponge it's worth it to me!

Review: SMASHBOX Photo Finish Luminizing
SMASHBOX claims this to be an Oil-free and Paraben-free Foundation Primer that leaves your skin with a healthy glow!
First thing I noticed was the bronze-y tone that it looks like in the tube. I was skeptical that it might be that same shade on my skin. It actually turns out to be a gorgeous gold highlight without looking too yellow-y or bronze. It is oil free and doesn’t leave you looking or feeling greasy. Its a concentrated formula and took about 4 pea-sized amounts to cover my entire face. I have naturally flush cheeks and it looks fabulous without any foundation on, it evened out my skin tone while still leaving me with my rosey cheeks. A little blush helps it look more natural if you aren’t putting foundation over it.
I applied my concealer and foundation overtop so I would be able to see its functionality with makeup on it too. It acts as a great highlight and definitely takes the dullness out of any skin that might need some extra umph!
My makeup stayed in place and I was glowing all day! (I know I should have taken a picture) I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for their primer to give them a boost! Great for day or night and everyday wear. This is a great addition to my makeup kit!
* Also use it around your collarbone or bust for a highlighted look!
1oz. $38.00

URBAN DECAY Naked Palette
This palette is a must have for any makeup artist or junkie. The colours are neutral enough to do day looks, but hav a variety of shades (12) to play it up for night! Plus they are full sized shadows all in one spot, no fumbling with individual shadows. Just grab and go if you need to.I can not say it enough times. I love this palette. I wear lots of neutral colours an the combinations are endless. Also, when you buy it at Sephora it comes with a mini Primer Potion and their pro quality Good Karma Shadow Brush!
Some of the colours do seem to be made of mostly glitter, but they still blend fabulously (yes, thats a word)
*I wouldn't recommend this for someone older because the shimmer is hard to pull off past the age of thirty-five but if you like it, then go for it!
$48.00 at most Sephora Stores or online at www.urbandecay.com
